When we tithe we are just giving to God what is already His, out of obedience. So today as we take up this offering, look into your heart and listen for what is on your own heart to give. So let’s give today knowing that God keeps his promises, and will open up the windows of Heaven in our lives. It is holy to the Lord.” So we see once again that the tithe BELONGS to God already. It is like turning on the light switch. And here we see that Jesus shows us the way to tap into that blessing, by sowing into the kingdom. “Lord today I bring my gift to your house. So let’s open up the Bible to 1 Timothy 6:10, to see what the apostle Paul had to say on the matter. The apostle Paul says to the church in Corinth to give as he purposes in his heart. And also Jesus said that with the same measure that you give it will be returned to you. The more seed that is planted, the greater the harvest. If we choose to obey and to trust in His word and accept his challenge, He will prove His word faithfully every time. We are so glad to have you here with us today. We thank you for all that you do, and as an act of worship we bring our gift to profit your ministry like King David and the nation of Israel.”. Isn’t that good? In a moment we are going to take up this morning’s tithes and offerings, but first let’s open up our bible to the book of Proverbs, chapter 3 verse 9–10. No! How many people here have had God bless them, help them, strengthen them, or save them from a situation? Yes, God has appointed some to lead, but a leader is nothing without the backing of the congregation—the church—and that is how God views it. So we see that faith is activated by action. There are many verses that deal with our giving back to God, and it is my prayer that these verses will be an encouragement as you give.
